Machine maintenance is crucial for ensuring optimal performance and prolonging their lifespan, ultimately saving costs in the long run.
Vertical Balers:
Daily:
- After each shift, use an air blower to clean both the outside and inside of the machine.
Weekly:
- Inspect all oil pipe joints and cylinders. Tighten any leaking fittings. Excessive oil on the cylinder rod indicates the need to replace seals.
Monthly:
- Lubricate door hinges, latches, and gate guides.
Yearly:
- Replace the hydraulic system’s oil filter.
- Replace the hydraulic oil with new oil.
Horizontal Balers:
Daily:
- Check and tighten any loose screws and bolts immediately.
- Clean the machine after each shift using an air blower and ensure the area around the machine base remains dry to prevent rust.
Weekly:
- Grease the rollers of the ram cart using a grease gun.
- Clean and grease the chains in the twister box and wire pusher box.
- Ensure all guide rollers rotate smoothly, clean and grease them, and replace any broken bearings.
Monthly:
- Check and tighten any loose chains in the twister box and wire pusher box.
- Check the oil level in the worm reducer (located above the twister box) and replenish with SAE 90# Gear Oil if necessary.
- Check for any blockage in the pump’s suction filter and clean it with diesel if needed. A loud noise indicates severe blockage.
- Check the oil level gauge on the oil tank and refill if below the lower limit gauge.
Yearly:
- Drain and clean the oil tank, clean the oil filter with diesel, and refill with new hydraulic oil.
- Inspect all parts, especially ram cutters, guide rollers, bearings, wire cutters, and twisters, for wear, breakage, or looseness, and replace as needed.
